The upper cabinets run all the way to the ceiling. They are also lit inside and underneath.

3 cm quartz, with outlets installed in the inner sides of the countertop.

A deep apron-front sink, tall enough for oversized pans and sheet trays.

A dedicated filtered drinking water faucet at the sink. The filter sits under the sink and is very easy to replace.

The microwave is a drawer set into the cabinetry at counter height rather than mounted above the range. Easy to use for kids as well.

These were installed on the cabinets opposite to the sink. The drawers are full-extension.

Every cabinet door and drawer in the kitchen is soft-close, as they are in all the bathrooms.

The kitchen runs on Lutron smart lighting. It is dimmable, schedulable, and can be controlled from a phone or by voice.

Speaker wire is already run in the ceiling for two in-ceiling speakers above the kitchen island. All speaker wires terminate in the back of the small closet in Bedroom 2 on the first floor.

A dedicated wired access point serves the kitchen. One of 7 access points across the home and property, delivering high-speed Wi-Fi without weak spots.

Throughout the home

Also applies in the kitchen

These upgrades were made across the whole house, so they are in this room too.

  • Soft-close cabinetry throughout the home

Kitchen and all bathrooms. Applied consistently throughout the whole home for ease of use.

  • Every room wired for Ethernet

Each room and common space has an Ethernet port connected by Cat6 cables. Wired connections are faster and more stable than Wi-Fi and do not degrade as more devices join the network.

  • No carpet anywhere in the home

Hard flooring throughout the whole home, with no carpet in any room.

  • Window trim throughout the home

Window trim installed on every functional window.

  • Enlarged windows throughout

Many windows throughout the home were upgraded at the time of building to be larger than the standard plan specifies.

  • Whole-home Wi-Fi coverage

7 Wi-Fi access points installed throughout the home and property. Each is wired back rather than repeating a signal, so coverage holds up in the garage, the yard, and the shed.
